    • Le Clocher is located on the church square of Ars en Ré (north of the Ile de Ré). 20 rooms all elegantly decorated and personalized : natural colors and a dominant wood in a seaside atmosphere…

Ideally located in the heart of the village, you are 5mns from the port, the market, and the beach. Le Clocher is also the ideal starting point for a beautiful bike ride through the marshes.

Charline & Xavier, Parisian advertisers, settled in this wonderful place in 2010. Patiently, they have completely renovated it to make a charming hotel. Staying at Le Clocher make you a privileged spectator of the Ile de Ré Life Style in a warm and family atmosphere.

The hotel has 3 family rooms and a room accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The restaurant, is open every day, and cooks local and seasonal products.

Absolutely terrible. Food was very poor standard. Steak served cold. Mixed up or missing orders. Waited 20 mins for the bottle of wine we ordered while the waitress messed about like a child with some local guys. We then witnessed a row between here and the boss. Basically, how NOT to run a restaurant. Avoid.

Two weeks in France, eating out at least once, but generally twice. This was far and away the worst experience for me. Ordered steak frites (2 in the party), at the end of lunch service. One was ordered rare, and the other medium (bearing in mind France Medium is generally closer to UK medium rare). Both were absolutely cremated. Politely explained to the waiter and (he was actually really nice - he nodded, and went to get his manager). The (assume) owner had left about 15 mins earlier in his tesla, but a female manger came over. She looked at the steaks and announced "there's nothing I can do, our kitchen is closed" then turned and walk away. Didn't wait for us to respond. The waiter subsequently apologised again, but that was it. It's a long time since I've come across that level of shoddy customer service, and certainly the worst I've ever seen in France (given they take the front of house seriously, rather than being underpaid and undertrained). I'm giving 2 stars, rather than 1, because the waiter was nice and the other two meals were fine.

Amazing service, lovely food and great staff. Always happy to entertain the English trying to use their limited french too. We were a part of a large group in town for a wedding and a couple stayed here as well. Owner was lovely and let us have a late checkout so those who had a later flight could chill in the room until we needed to leave.

Imagine an old-fashioned beach accommodation, but at modern high value prices. Add to that poor, careless service, tiny, tiny shower, grotty box of a room, and our stay was , to say the least...
