  Exceptionally nice old house with spacious rooms with lots of light and large bathrooms. The beds are delicious and the bedding lovely. The garden is large and the pool beautiful. Parking on the premises. Delicious breakfast. The owners (Sandrine and Pascal) are gracious and very warm. They are passionate about what they do and about Rochefort. They recommended some fabulous restaurants. It was a pleasure to get to know them.

  My wife and I have just returned from a one week stay at L’Espirit du 8, and we’re so impressed that we have booked already for next year. That in itself is rare, the world is so small and there are so many places to see that we generally only visit places once. However, this place is so unique and Sandrine and Pascal are so welcoming and skilled at making you feel “at home” that we felt that this was an experience that had to be repeated. Rochefort is an excellent base from which to explore the region but Rochefort itself has much to offer for anyone interested in maritime history or historic architecture. The house itself is literally a work of art, we were lucky enough to be given a tour of all of the very individual bedrooms, none of which will disappoint any discerning guest. This isn’t a big operation but it does provide a big welcome, a superbly relaxing atmosphere and a clear feeling that Sandrine and Pascal want their guests to be relaxed, comfortable and looked after. Everything that you could want is here, comfort, peace and quiet, a sociable and varied breakfast service, history a caring and helpful approach from people who care about the house, the area but most of all about their guests. We have never felt as relaxed or looked after in any hotel or guest house before and we have stayed in many over the years. The pool and garden are like a little bit of paradise, you get secure parking and the freedom to relax surrounded by original and interesting decor and ideas. Sandrine and Pascal manage to strike that difficult balance between exceptional customer service and the avoidance of intrusion. They could not have made us feel more welcome or valued as guests. We felt like part of a French family by the time we left - the hospitality business is tough, but it feels as if it genuinely does come naturally at L’Espirit Du 8.

  It's a very special place to stay at, decorated and designed with so much taste! The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The spacious rooms, the quiet area, the pool and the garden are perfect places to chill and relax... I highly recommand it!
