    • Want to discover the island of Ré? Don't miss La Flotte where maritime history blends perfectly with the charm of a typical Charentes village.

      A bit of history

La Flotte has long been a very active port, particularly for the salt and wine trade. Today, although its main activity has changed, the port remains a central element of local life and a popular place for tourists to stroll.

The village is marked by its traditional architecture : white houses with blue shutters and cobbled streets. The covered market, built in the 19th century, is a fine example of the architecture of the period.

What to see at La Flotte?

      The Platin Museum

This museum traces the history of fishing in La Flotte and presents an impressive collection of objects linked to this activity.

      The beaches

La Flotte, like almost all the towns on the Île de Ré, has several beaches. Some are particularly popular with families, such as the Arnérault beach.

      Water activities

A seaside holiday often means water sports: sailing, kayaking and even windsurfing are on the programme.
