The Pointe de la Coubre forms the junction between the Forêt de la Coubre-La Tremblade and the Baie de Bonne Anse . From this point begins the Barre à l'Anglais , a sandbank that stretches along the bay to the beach of Palmyre . It is located at the Charente end of the Mouth of the Gironde . It is a preserved natural site that is part of the Côte Sauvage on the Arvert peninsula.
At the top of the Phare de la Coubre you will have a magnificent panorama of the peninsula, the island of Oléron, the mouth of the Gironde, and in the distance the Lighthouse of Cordouan. On the other hand, swimming is dangerous there, because of the strong currents.
