La Grenade Bleue An unusual guesthouse combining heritage, art and well-being in the heart of Pons

Welcome to our world

Here, there are no plastic bubbles or treehouses. Our approach is first and foremost ecological, sustainable and respectful of the environment.

For over 30 years, we have been renovating ruins, prioritizing ecological solutions, reclaimed materials, and appropriate heating methods to create energy-efficient homes in harmony with their surroundings. We also enjoy sharing this approach with our visitors and raising awareness of these issues that are so important to us.

Each project is an opportunity to recreate a true biotope. We plant numerous local species, observe nests, and protect bird habitats. We pay particular attention to pollinators, hedgehogs, and all the small wildlife in the garden. Today, our land is home to a rich biodiversity : butterflies, dragonflies, large beetles, and many other species find refuge here.

Between 2012 and 2014, we created a food forest composed of numerous fruit trees, a vegetable garden, and permaculture beds. Located on the riverbank, this space could eventually contribute to true food self-sufficiency. The garden is also a certified LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) refuge.

Our pets are also rescued animals from shelters, faithful companions in this adventure focused on respecting life.

We do most of the work ourselves. The house's signature touch? A hint of blue mosaic that you'll find throughout. As you stay, you'll discover an artistic world populated by stone statues, terracotta figures, paintings, and numerous original creations. Here again, recycled materials play a significant role.

Because this house is first and foremost an artist's house.

Olivier, an engineer by training, imagines and designs all the spaces. As for me, coming from an artistic background, I like to give free rein to my creativity in every corner of the place.

Another of our passions is history. If you wish, I would be delighted to introduce you to the fascinating history of Pons, an ancient medieval city rich in mysteries, which developed thanks to the Seugne, the river that flows at the bottom of our garden.

The house itself is part of the local heritage : built with local stone, it was once an old cognac cellar which we have transformed into a warm riad organized around a flowery interior patio.

Here, it is perfectly possible to come by train and do everything on foot, for an even more environmentally friendly stay.
