About the Francs Garçons Hotel

By 1976, three of the medieval houses that make it up were in a dangerous state of ruins without roofs or floors, condemned to demolition.

The young architect, Hervé Audinet, and his wife Florence, moved into the family home on Rue du Marché in 1964. They did not want to see these venerable medieval houses at the foot of the Romanesque church of Saint-Sauvant disappear.

So, he will acquire it and will fit out this place in 2005 in a very contemporary and designer way. This place is composed of oak floors, paving and walls of natural stone and a decoration composed of unusual objects brought back from different trips. The successful bet of the Design Hotel des Francs Garçons is to have respected the old structure of the building dating from the 12th century located in a medieval village and to have included inside a timeless decoration and recognized designers.

At the time of its creation, ten architects lived or worked in Saint-Sauvant. Each room was named after them, and each of them contributed to the decoration of their room through their choice of colors, original designs, or objects of their own creation.

In twenty years, more than sixty thousand travelers from all walks of life have stayed at the hotel.
