  La Maison des Ambassadeurs, the first five-star hotel in La Rochelle, pays tribute to the French Ambassador Albert Bodard, the "son of La Rochelle", through an assertive style, elegant decoration, a bar and refined cuisine.
  
  OUR HISTORY
  
  At the height of the 19th century, the ambassadors of the Empire of France exported their lifestyle to the four corners of the world, like Albert Bodard, explorer and ambassador of France, who multiplied the missions to his homes in Mexico, Iran, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Indonesia and China. Despite a life rich in adventure, political intrigue, travel and epicureanism, Albert Bodard has always considered La Rochelle "his home".
  
  ROOMS & SUITES
  
  We find the spirit of Albert Bodard in the 58 rooms and suites of the two buildings that make up the hotel. The color palette is reminiscent of marine tones and those of the salt marshes, while the large windows reveal the terracotta roofs of the city and the vegetation of the garden courtyards. Deep blue velvet from Asia, ceramics from Italy and touches of leather from Africa recount the travels of Albert Bodard. The subdued lighting completes the ideal decor that invites you to rest after your trip.
  
  The decoration and layout of the rooms have been designed for the modern traveler, in the spirit of a home, with the comfort of a five-star hotel. With their high-quality mattresses, their custom-made bath products, their organic coffee and teas, all our rooms, in which beach bags and yoga mats are available, invite you to relax in a cozy setting with modern accents.

We had a beautiful room that looked out over the pool area. Our room had a king bed in its own room, and two twins in the living area. The bathroom had a walk-in shower and a separate large soaking tub. The WC was located off the entryway. The location was great for walking around La Rochelle, which is a very charming town. The parking is a tight squeeze, but we managed okay. Apparently staff typically parks your car for you, but this was not communicated to us upon checkin.

The room was well decorated and in a good condition, but noisy as rooms are not well isolated. We could hear people going to the bathroom or caughing during the night. The lobby with the bar is very impressive and trendy, they have a great choice of liquors and cocktails.

Very pleasant staff, comfortable accommodation in a great location. A warning however for anyone arriving in their own car. On the right hand side entrance to the car park there is a low concrete curb that is impossible to see when manoeuvring and it’s easy to damage your car (as I did). I suggested to the staff that a warning balustrade or similar be installed but they seemed totally disinterested even though it was obvious many other cars had hit it previously. On a positive note the hotel has EV charging available.
