Les Marais salants de l’île de Ré Nature Reserves in Loix

The salt marshes of the Ile de Ré are the ideal place to appreciate the atypical ecosystem of this island. Indeed, the island of Ré benefits from a very preserved environment between marshes and pine forest. The salt marshes occupy a predominant place there. They completely surround the town of Loix. They extend from the Pointe du Grouin to the Pointe de Loix , and cross the island right through, until they almost reach the ocean, at the level of the Martray. Many paths crisscross them and run alongside the canals. You will make beautiful walks or bike rides there. They attract many birds. Be discreet and don't forget your binoculars.
