La Cité de l'Huître Discover the world of oysters in an exceptional environment in Marennes

Located in an exceptional environment in the heart of the largest oyster refining marsh in Europe, the Cité de l'Huître opens the doors to a world apart, with its rhythms and tides, to discover the world of the oyster, its people, its environment and its tasting. Complete visit of 2 to 4 hours, for young and old. On the program:

• Daily activities: Demonstration of oyster farming, discovery of the marsh, introduction to oyster opening, hot oyster recipe... Throughout the day, the facilitators reveal the secrets of this shellfish which is the pride of the region!
• A museum on stilts: Between two activities, visit the 4 colorful exhibition huts to understand and discover the oyster, the Seudre marsh, its oyster farmers and their history.
• A flight "Between Land and Sea": In the screening room, a new short film invites you to fly over the territory of Charente Maritime for a dive into the heart of the basin and the oyster farming profession. Comfortably installed and equipped with headphones, the immersion can begin.
• A family outing: In addition to the free access game booklets, children will be able to feed the sea bream, paint oyster shells, fish with a square net and much more. During the school holidays, more activities are offered to learn how to catch crabs, design a herbarium with the atypical plants of the marsh, and learn all about this funny shellfish.
• A bike ride: The Chemin des Claires is a 3.5km marked trail that crisscrosses the Seudre marsh, between refining claires, oyster huts and irrigation channels.
