About

  • English
    • The Maritime Museum of La Rochelle, located in the trawler basin of the Old Port, offers a captivating immersion in the maritime history of the city. It is a unique museum, partly afloat, with several ships classified as Historic Monuments that can be visited, including the emblematic meteorological frigate "France 1", the tugboat "Saint-Gilles" and the trawler "Angoumois".

On land, the museum offers permanent exhibitions such as "La Rochelle, Born of the Sea," tracing the evolution of La Rochelle's ports, as well as temporary exhibitions in the former Encan. It also houses a remarkable collection of more than 40 small pleasure boats. The museum highlights life on board and the deep connection between La Rochelle and the ocean.
