The Château d'Oléron, located in the extreme south-east, is the “oyster capital”. Former stronghold, it retains the remains of fortifications and a citadel. The villas at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century bring a special charm. The omnipresent mimosa in the town gives rise to a party in February.
