On the edge of the Deux-Sèvres department, Dampierre-sur-Boutonne can be visited for its Renaissance chateau, destroyed by fire in 2002 and remarkably restored since. The upper gallery has a ceiling carved with alchemical emblems. Themed and original routes guide the visitor.
The Poitou donkey is celebrated, a few kilometers away, in an asinerie, an educational farm dedicated to this emblematic species.
