This review applies to the restaurant only. The service was unfriendly, and the quality was very questionable. Be prepared to wait, especially at the start of peak season, as we waited almost half an hour for a carafe of water (in 34-degree heat, that's really pushing it) and a burger that wasn't cooked properly. Our food was lukewarm, and judging by the burger bun and the frozen fries, which were as hard as a rock, you have to wonder if the plates hadn't cooled down somewhere before reaching our table... I want to emphasize the desperately long wait; our neighbors had to help themselves to salt from another table that hadn't been cleared yet. We even shared our sauces with them because they were forgotten. The only good point is that the portions weren't too large or too small, but overall it's really very average, and the numerous Routard awards it has received in the past don't guarantee the current quality.

Excellent value for money, generous and delicious portions, top-notch staff (a rarity these days), very good desserts, and the rum baba (the authentic recipe) was superb! Bravo!

This hotel-restaurant is exactly what the locals of Île de Ré are looking for: a friendly place to chat over coffee. So don't expect a tourist trap. It's really great that such a simple hotel-restaurant is still on Île de Ré! Otherwise, it would be like the French Riviera, charging 500 euros a night. The location is pleasant, and the port is 500 meters away, which is where the real tourists go. There's a town parking lot 300 meters away. The owner isn't gruff; he's efficient with customers of varying degrees of civility. The more people are on vacation, the more rushed they are. However, it's a shame that the terrace is full of smokers, even at breakfast time. The open facade leading to the terrace lets the morning sun flood the dining room. It's one of the charms of this place. As a result, the smell of tobacco is absolutely everywhere. I recommend this place to non-smokers and urge smokers to keep walking! Tourists: don't stop, the port is only 500m away.
