OUR HISTORY
At the height of the 19th century, the ambassadors of the Empire of France exported their lifestyle to the four corners of the world, like Albert Bodard, explorer and ambassador of France, who multiplied the missions to his homes in Mexico, Iran, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Indonesia and China. Despite a life rich in adventure, political intrigue, travel and epicureanism, Albert Bodard has always considered La Rochelle "his home".
THE BODARD BAR
The bar of the Maison des Ambassadeurs recreates the festive atmosphere where Albert Bodard would receive around the large period fireplace. The modern décor with 1950s accents is punctuated by objects gleaned from around the world that tell the story of Ambassador Bodard and his adventures, from the New World to the Far East.
Hosts and locals alike mingle in a festive and welcoming atmosphere, for afternoon tea or evening drinks. A fine selection of wines and local products highlight the heritage of La Rochelle, all accompanied by unmissable international dishes.
