    • THE GRAND CHALET IN RONCE-LES-BAINS: A STAY BETWEEN OCEAN AND PINE FOREST

A charming hotel facing the ocean

Located in Ronce-les-Bains, a seaside resort of La Tremblade in Charente-Maritime, Le Grand Chalet welcomes its visitors to a peaceful and rejuvenating setting, nestled between fine sandy beaches and a pine forest. Housed in a historic 19th-century residence, this establishment offers a stay imbued with elegance and authenticity, with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Its privileged location, just a stone's throw from the center of Ronce-les-Bains, makes it a popular destination for lovers of nature and wide open spaces.

      Elegant and warm rooms

Le Grand Chalet offers meticulously decorated rooms, blending contemporary style with old-world charm. Each room features comfortable bedding, a private bathroom, storage space, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms offer panoramic views of the ocean or pine forest, for a truly serene escape.

Guests can choose from several types of accommodation: double rooms, family rooms, or spacious suites, suitable for all types of stay, whether it's a romantic getaway, a family weekend, or a relaxing break with friends.

A restaurant focused on local flavors

Every morning, a hearty and delicious breakfast is served in the bright dining room or on the sunny terrace. On the menu: artisanal pastries, fresh bread, seasonal fruits, homemade jams, and local specialties. For lunch and dinner, several restaurants located in the immediate vicinity of the Grand Chalet offer local produce, including the famous Marennes-Oléron oysters and freshly caught seafood.

A setting conducive to relaxation and discovery

The guesthouse is surrounded by a vast, tree-filled garden, perfect for relaxing. Guests can enjoy the deckchairs facing the ocean or explore the surrounding beaches and trails. Ronce-les-Bains is also renowned for its sunny microclimate, allowing guests to enjoy seaside pleasures throughout the summer months.

Must-see places to discover within a 30-kilometer radius
From Le Grand Chalet, several remarkable sites are accessible within a few minutes' drive or bike ride. In La Tremblade, the oyster port invites you to take a picturesque stroll among colorful huts and sample oysters. The Train des Mouettes, a historic steam train, offers a unique journey through the marshes and typical landscapes of the region.

Nature lovers can explore the Coubre Forest, where marked trails allow visitors to discover unspoiled flora and fauna. Along the coast, the Coubre Lighthouse offers spectacular views of the Seudre estuary and the Atlantic Ocean.

For a cultural outing, the charming village of Mornac-sur-Seudre, listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France," captivates with its cobbled streets, artisans, and salt marshes. Finally, the local markets of La Tremblade and Marennes are full of local products, such as Pineau des Charentes, Charente galettes, and bouchot mussels.

By staying at the Grand Chalet, visitors benefit from an authentic and peaceful setting, while being close to many activities and discoveries that make the Charente-Maritime so rich.

The staff is really very friendly, which is a good sign upon arrival 🙂 The room: Our enthusiasm waned upon seeing the room: although it was very nicely decorated (like the rest of the hotel), it was tiny... the advertised double bed was simply a two-person bed.... The toilet was in the bathroom, which was also very, very small. The services: We decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant: it was expensive but acceptable... The final straw for me was the breakfast... THE moment so many people look forward to... €17 for a very, very limited selection, almost exclusively sweet. So I didn't eat breakfast, went back to the room to make myself some tea, and returned to keep my husband company. In conclusion: we had mixed feelings from the moment we saw the room, and we left feeling generally dissatisfied, despite the warm welcome from everyone, whom we thank. Edit: After reading the responses to the few negative reviews, we decided to leave the hotel this morning, even though we had booked for two nights. A few minutes after we hit the road again, the owner called us. We had a long conversation, during which we discovered they are very dedicated people. As business owners ourselves, we were very touched by their commitment to ensuring their customers are fully satisfied. If their responses to the negative reviews are so harsh, we think it's because they react impulsively, precisely because they give their all. We plan to return and hope to meet them both 💖 Second edit: We just received a second call... although our reservation wasn't refundable, they made sure it became so. Thank you again for this gesture, which, combined with their responsiveness, demonstrates their genuine commitment.

We stayed two nights in a family suite with a sea view. The location is truly ideal, the view is magnificent, and the beds are quite decent. The small parking lot nearby is also convenient. On the other hand, for a three-star hotel, the value for money is not up to par. The bathroom left a little to be desired, especially the toilet and brush, which were dirty upon our arrival. The television was also a real pain: it was impossible to change channels without having to go through the settings and reconnect to the internet each time. Furthermore, we came out after each night with pimples all over our bodies... Is this related to the bedding? We can't say for sure, but we doubt it. And above all, we were very disappointed after our departure because the hotel called us to accuse us of putting coffee in the kettle, which is completely false. We simply boiled water, nothing else. Maybe the kettle is old and needs replacing!? When we explained this, the person replied ironically: "Oh, so it's the little elf then?"... Honestly, not very professional. This is not the way to talk to customers who paid for their stay without any problems. Unfortunately, the view and the 3 stars don't make everything. Reading the responses owners give to dissatisfied customers, I have no doubt that the response to my comment will be very disingenuous and annoying... Too bad.
