  We were warmly welcomed by the young lady Mathilde, a beautiful redhead with blue eyes. A welcome worthy of the most beautiful legends of our beloved Lorraine! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with rare kindness by Mathilde, a young lady as radiant as the sunsets on the shores of Île de Ré. Her fiery hair and azure eyes are matched only by her sincere smile and sense of hospitality. Thanks to her clear and passionate explanations, we were able to discover the island in an authentic and enchanting light. Thank you, Mathilde, for this moment of sharing and human warmth—you offered us much more than a simple welcome; you gave us a memory. ---

  I highly recommend that Parisians visiting Île d'Oléron take the train to La Rochelle, then the ferry to Boyardville. The 50-minute crossing allows you to pass close to Fort Boyard and arrive directly on the island. It's also a great opportunity to explore La Rochelle, with its magnificent port and two towers. You can enjoy a drink or a meal along the marina. Some restaurants have large, shaded terraces overlooking the port.
