    • La Friche du Gabut, located in the heart of La Rochelle, is much more than just a wasteland. It is an emblematic place of alternative culture and conviviality, which has transformed itself over the years to become a true social and artistic lung of the city.

Historically neglected and incidentally converted into a parking lot for a few years, this former port area has been reinvested by residents and various local associations. This has given rise to a constantly evolving space. It features a multitude of temporary and permanent installations: colorful graffiti adorning the walls, shared gardens greening the landscape, improvised terraces where people like to meet, and even artistic structures made from recycled materials.

The Friche du Gabut is above all a place for meeting and exchange. It regularly hosts a variety of cultural events : concerts, exhibitions, designer markets, participatory workshops, and even open-air screenings. It is a space where creativity reigns supreme, where experimentation is encouraged, and where everyone can find their place.
