To connect the Sèvre Niortaise River to the Port of La Rochelle, a canal was built. It's called the Marans Canal or the Rompsay Canal. It's bordered by a greenway, but the most enjoyable part is taking a trip on the water. There are several entry points where you can rent a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard.
