Les Caves Jules Gautret Producer of authentic and high-quality Cognac in Royan

The Jules Gautret cellar in Saint-Sulpice-de-Royan is a renowned center for the production and aging of Pineau des Charentes. It is located a stone's throw from Royan, on the route of the Train des Mouettes which runs along the Seudre estuary, departing from Saujon.

We welcome you year-round, Monday to Saturday, to discover the world of our Pineau des Charentes through our cellars. You can explore and taste our wines, Pineau des Charentes, and Cognacs with one of our specialists and sample some of our oldest and most prestigious spirits.

Each year, our winery receives an average of 5,500 tons of red and white grapes. It vinifies the grape juice brought by several hundred winegrowers who are members of our cooperative. The grape reception area is located in front of the building. Inside, the pressing area contains six pneumatic presses connected, by an ingenious network of pipes, to various stainless steel tanks. Outside the building, tall steel tanks rise to a height of thirteen meters. These are used for aging wines for the production of Cognac.

The Pineau aging area contains gigantic oak barrels banded with blue hoops. The Jules Gautret Cellar holds the largest Pineau barrel in the two Charentes regions, with a storage capacity of 76,000 liters.

A little further on, another room houses the aging barrels of old Pineau. The fortified wines spend at least 24 months in large casks before being transferred to these oak barrels. The "paradise" contains 351 400-liter barrels of Pineau.
