    • AMAURY LAFONTA IN LA ROCHELLE, ARTISAN PASTRIES AND GOURMET CREATIONS

A pastry shop located in the heart of La Rochelle

The Amaury Lafonta house is located in La Rochelle, in the Pays d'Aunis and the coast, at 68 rue des Merciers, a stone's throw from the Vieux Marché. The address embodies recognized know-how, carried by a passionate team around Pastry Chef Amaury Lafonta, crowned World Pastry Champion in 2023. Alongside his partner Xavier Pichon and Timoté Bourre, Best Apprentice Baker in France in 2019, he is developing an offer focused on craftsmanship, gourmet food and the promotion of quality products.

      Refined pastry creations

The La Rochelle shop window presents a range of individual pastries, priced between €5.90 and €7.50, as well as desserts to share. The recipes are based on rigorous craftsmanship and the use of natural ingredients, respecting seasonality. Each pastry reflects a search for balance between textures, flavors, and presentation. The approach emphasizes finesse and authenticity, for an offering suited to a wide audience of lovers of sweet treats.

      A complementary bakery offer

Within the Amaury Lafonta house, the bakery also occupies an important place. Under the direction of Timoté Bourre, the sourdough bread and 100% organic pastries are made from local flours. The emphasis is placed on traditional manufacturing methods and on respect for raw materials. Prices, from €1.50 to €6.90, allow for a variety of everyday products and weekend treats.

New points of sale on the Île de Ré

In recent months, the Amaury Lafonta brand has expanded its presence with the opening of two new boutiques on the Île de Ré, in Ars-en-Ré and La Couarde-sur-Mer. These locations allow residents and visitors to the island to find the pastry and bakery creations for which the house is renowned. This establishment strengthens the link between the Charente coast and the neighboring island, and offers wider access to quality artisanal pastries.

A place accessible and open all year round

In La Rochelle, the shop is open year-round, making it easy for both locals and visitors. Both card and cash payments are accepted, and its city-center location makes it a convenient and central place to discover the local cuisine.

What to discover within a 30 km radius of La Rochelle

The Amaury Lafonta pastry shop is located in a region rich in discoveries. The historic center of La Rochelle invites you to explore its shopping streets, its Old Port and its medieval towers, witnesses to its maritime past. The central market, in the immediate vicinity of the store, highlights seasonal products and the know-how of local producers.

A few kilometers away, the Île de Ré is accessible by its bridge. Visitors can enjoy bike rides through salt marshes, vineyards and typical villages such as Saint-Martin-de-Ré, Ars-en-Ré or La Couarde-sur-Mer, where two Amaury Lafonta sales points are now located. The fine sandy beaches complete these routes, offering a combination of nature and heritage.

To the south, Châtelaillon-Plage charms with its large beach, promenade, and lively market. Further east, the Marais Poitevin offers a unique landscape of canals and meadows, ideal for a boat trip or a walk. Finally, about 30 kilometers away, the town of Rochefort retraces its maritime history with the Corderie Royale and the frigate Hermione.

Between the coastline, villages on the Rétais and maritime heritage, the surroundings of La Rochelle are a pleasant complement to a visit to the Amaury Lafonta house, where artisanal pastries take centre stage.

Passing through your establishment on Friday, disappointed by the welcome, the saleswoman served me my slice of quiche with her whole hand, remember to bring a cake server.

Disappointing. The pastries are not at the high prices charged. The quality/price ratio is not good.
