La Palmyre Zoo is an internationally renowned French zoological park, located in Charente-Maritime on the Arvert peninsula, near the La Coubre National Forest. Created in 1966 by Claude Caillé, it is still run by his family and covers 18 hectares, housing more than 1,600 animals of 110 different species, including mammals, birds and reptiles, including many endangered species. The zoo is renowned for its sea lion and bird displays, as well as for the many births that take place there each year, testifying to the well-being of the animals and its active role in conservation programs.
Open year-round, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, offering a unique immersion into the world's wildlife through carefully designed habitats and constant renovation and expansion efforts.
