The curiosity of this lighthouse located on the quay facing the La Rochelle yacht basin, is its integration into the body of a house with a mansart roof.
The Quai Valin lighthouse is a fully automated alignment lighthouse that cannot be visited. It is systematically assisted by the red light on the other side of the afloat basin, near the Saint Nicolas tower, which delimits the entrance channel to the 3 port basins with the chain tower facing it.
The Quai Valin lighthouse has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2011.
