The Marais d'Yves Nature Reserve protects a wetland, between Fouras and Châtelaillon-Plage, opposite the Ile d'Aix . Composed of marshes and lagoons, it hosts many species of wading birds, storks and other migratory birds.
Did you know ? The lagoon is a moving environment. When a sandbank moves and traps the sea, the body of water thus formed is called a “lagoon”. Often its waters are brackish, that is to say composed of a mixture of fresh and salt water. The flora that grows there is very specific, in fact attracting animals that appreciate this unusual ecosystem, and in particular an interesting birdlife.
