    • BRIEMM IN L'HOUMEAU, BISTRONOMIC CUISINE AT THE GATES OF LA ROCHELLE

A unique address just a stone's throw from La Rochelle

Located in L'Houmeau, a charming coastal town in Charente-Maritime, the Briemm restaurant embodies the spirit of sincere, friendly bistronomic cuisine deeply rooted in its territory. Just minutes from the port of La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast, this restaurant, created by Brice and Emmanuelle, combines culinary expertise and a warm welcome. Their meeting in Saint-Barthélemy gave birth to a joint project, designed around the pleasure of cooking, sharing and hosting.

A philosophy centered on simplicity and the joy of living

At the heart of Briemm, the cuisine is authentic, without artifice. Each plate tells a story of the season, the produce, and passion. The recipes are born from a careful selection of local producers, Charente fishermen, and taste artisans who prioritize quality and freshness. The establishment cultivates a simple idea: to offer a table where you can taste, cut, drink, dip, share, toast, savor, and celebrate.
The atmosphere, both elegant and relaxed, is ideal for conversation. Within the restaurant's bright walls, guests take the time to appreciate the cuisine, which is fair and respectful of the produce and the seasons.

      A lively, market-inspired menu

Le Briemm offers a short menu that changes weekly based on the chef's arrivals and inspiration. Fresh fish from the fish market, carefully selected French meats, and vegetables from local market gardeners make up the bulk of the dishes.
The precise cooking and balanced seasonings demonstrate a taste for perfection. The carefully curated wine list showcases independent winemakers and regional vintages that subtly complement each dish.

      A close-knit and caring team

Under the leadership of Brice, a passionate cook, and Emmanuelle, the true soul of the place, Briemm stands out for its human coherence and attention to detail. The team works every day to create a seamless and friendly experience, where everyone feels welcomed like a guest. The service, attentive without being stuffy, reflects this desire to offer a moment of relaxation and simple pleasure.

What to discover around L'Houmeau and Briemm

Within a 30-kilometer radius of L'Houmeau, Charente-Maritime reveals a remarkable natural and cultural wealth. Just a few minutes away, La Rochelle seduces with its Old Port, its cobbled streets, its aquarium and its covered markets where you can find seafood and local products.
Nature lovers can walk along the coastal paths linking Nieul-sur-Mer to Marsilly, or go for a bike ride to the beaches of Chef-de-Baie and Aytré. The Ile de Ré, accessible by the nearby bridge, offers an ideal setting for hiking, village markets and discovering small salt and oyster producers.
A little further south, Yves Bay, the Yves Marsh Nature Reserve and the oyster ports of Châtelaillon-Plage reveal unspoiled nature, ideal for birdwatching and family walks. Inland, Esnandes and its Maison de la Baie du Marais Poitevin are reminders of the importance of local maritime heritage.

Between La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré, the Briemm in L'Houmeau stands out as a characterful address where bistronomic cuisine, proximity to producers and the gentle Charente way of life come together in a sober and generous harmony.

Merci Chef. Katy et Philippe LY

A warm welcome, a cozy setting, and a peaceful atmosphere (though this was a weekday and off-season). The generous spacing between tables and the soundproofing from the ceiling were appreciated. The food was excellent; our crispy lamb shoulder was a hit, and the small container of extra sauce was a welcome touch. We had to add salt ourselves, but that's a plus for those on a diet. The menu is rather limited, but perhaps it changes regularly? We opted for the tasting menu, which we enjoyed, but we remarked that the €25 set lunch menu we saw being served must be very good. No regrets though! 🙂 The chocolate dessert was very good, but could have been reduced by a third and perhaps have a touch of fresh fruit added. The value for money was quite reasonable. Easy access with outdoor parking just a few dozen meters away.

Simply incredible. I don't even have words to describe how much I enjoyed the food; it was absolutely delicious! The cuisine was generous yet meticulous, and the details were exquisite! As for the service, the staff was very pleasant, always attentive and responsive to our every need. A special mention for Céline ;) We had a truly wonderful time; I highly recommend it!
