    • An unmissable visit during your stay on the Ile de Ré!

      Built in 1849 and inaugurated in 1854, to replace the old tower built under Vauban (today classified as a Historic Monument), the whale lighthouse offers you, from its 57m height, a magnificent panorama over the whole of the island of Ré but also a beautiful view towards Oléron, its neighbor.
      Your visit is enhanced by a bookstore where you will find books, posters, and other souvenirs.
      Finally, stop at the whale museum, a few meters at the foot of the old tower. You will learn about the history of lighthouses and their construction techniques, thanks to innovative multimedia means that will please everyone!
