Tortillon Oyster Farm is an oyster shack located in La Tremblade, on the port of La Grève, within the Marennes-Oléron basin in Charente-Maritime. Situated on the edge of an oyster channel, the establishment operates in an environment directly linked to oyster farming, between marshes, oyster beds, and the Seudre estuary. This location allows for a direct connection between the production, sale, and tasting of seafood products.

Oyster production and direct sales

Tortillon Oyster Farm specializes in the production of oysters from the Marennes-Oléron basin, benefiting from the Marennes Oléron PGI ( Protected Geographical Indication). The oysters are cultivated and then finished in oyster beds, according to the traditional methods specific to this shellfish farming region. Direct sales at the oyster shack allow you to buy oysters, as well as, depending on the season, clams, mussels, and king prawns. The selection varies according to the season and production.

On-site tasting and guided tours

The hut offers on-site tasting, by the channel, in a typical La Tremblade port setting. The dishes showcase oysters and other shellfish, mostly sourced from local producers.

The establishment also organizes guided tours of oyster farms, offering a glimpse into the oyster farmer 's craft and the stages of oyster production. These tours are available for groups of 10 or more, at a price of €8 per person, and include an oyster tasting. They are suitable for both groups and individual visitors wishing to gain a better understanding of the Marennes-Oléron oyster beds.
