Located in a charming setting in La Rochelle, Tout du Cru presents itself at first glance as a tantalizing promise of culinary authenticity and fresh seafood. However, our experience there unfortunately fell short of expectations, both in terms of service and the overall quality of the customer experience. This review aims to objectively reflect the many shortcomings observed during our visit. The first pitfall, and not the least, was the excessively long wait, which marked our entire meal, from beginning to end. Upon our arrival, we had to wait several minutes before a member of staff deigned to greet us—despite the modestly sized dining room. Once seated, the wait lengthened: orders were taken late, appetizers were served at a later date, and dishes arrived only after a particularly unreasonable wait. This general slowdown, far from being a simple setback, appears structural. Observing the staff's chaotic comings and goings, it's clear that the chef, who seems intent on maintaining control over the restaurant's entire operations, is simply unable to manage the restaurant's operations. This lack of delegation or internal coordination creates a sense of disorganization, where each course seems to be a test of patience for the customers. The dining room, although only half full, seemed completely overwhelmed. Nevertheless, it's worth noting the obvious courtesy of the dining room staff, who, despite being overwhelmed, strive to remain friendly, cheerful, and attentive to the needs of their guests. Their kindness is undeniable and deserves recognition. However, their efficiency is severely tested by an organization that borders on improvisation. The absence of a true dining room manager, or a coordinator capable of smoothing out the service, transforms every interaction with customers into an attempt to catch up. One senses a genuine desire to do good among these servers, but they alone cannot overcome the kitchen's inertia or compensate for visibly inadequate management. The most problematic point remains without a doubt the extremely disappointing value for money. The prices displayed are those of a fine dining establishment. The presentation of the dishes, rather basic, does nothing to redeem this impression. The presentation is minimalist, without any particular aesthetic refinement, and the portions, far from generous, leave the customer wanting more. At these prices, one would expect particular care in the execution, fine seasoning, or even originality in the composition: none of this is truly there. The entire menu gives the impression of being overpriced, as if the restaurant's name and location were enough to justify a pricing policy that is disconnected from reality. And what's more, the owner's response was unpleasant and rude... what a shame not to be able to hear a complaint when the waiters complained to the kitchen every time they came by. But there are so many good restaurants in this part of France...
