    • Beneath your feet, over 2,000 years of history!

Overlooking the Gironde Estuary over more than 40 ha, the archaeological site of Fâ in Barzan, in Charente-Maritime, is gradually revealing the remains of a prosperous town that played a leading economic role in the Gallo-Roman period, undoubtedly one of the most important ancient port towns on the Atlantic coast linked with Mediolanum (Saintes) but also the rest of the Roman Empire.

Through its museum, which displays artifacts discovered during ongoing excavations, and an outdoor walking trail along the progressively restored remains (baths and sanctuary), the Fâ archaeological site invites you to discover the history of the place and gain a better understanding of Gallo-Roman life. Daily guided tours and Gallo-Roman activities are offered throughout all school holidays.

The average visit duration is 2 hours.
